Voltage in water?

Just noticed some mushrooms starting to turn into "goo".in checking water parameters felt a "tingle" in water.
What is the best way to check for electricity in my water(without being electrocuted).i have voltmeters that i could use.as of now everything is turned off except for 2 power heads to keep water moving.

You already checked. The tingle is enough to know . Unplug the everything one at a time until you find the source and then replace. Probably not the issue with the shrooms though.

Edit: Use a volt meter if you like . One probe in the water the other on a source of ground.

And (in case you didn't already know this) set in on VAC or AC Voltage.

It is almost impossible to get a true zero reading due to all of the equipment in and around our tanks, but IMO anything over a couple of volts is a concern.

But, the easiest thing to do, like GT said, is unplug stuff until the tingle goes away.

If it is an older koralia it is possible that it is the source

The problem is that the current may only exist when you serve as the ground or a device you use serves as the ground(meter). That is why it is important just to remove any device that has the potential to supply current in the absence of a ground. You then remove the potential.
