Vortech Issue

So I noticed this morning that my Vortech MP40W was not working. We had a couple of surges in power last night, but this is on a surge protector. I remove the power from the control unit and plug it back in and all I get it a flash of red light. Then nothing. Any ideas? If it's fried, what do I need to replace it with? I can only find upgrade kits for MP40W to MP40ES

Try removing the wet side and vinegar soaking it. Calcium buildup that stops the wet side from turning can cause the red light. There are patterns to the red flash that can tell you what is the issue. The Ecotech website talks about these, and you may find an answer in the Vortech owners manual as well. Also, you can call Ecotech tech support. They are great.

Agreed, Dave. I've had the malfunction lights before when things weren't spinning right. This just gives me one read flash and then nothing though. I'll call them later this afternoon. Might be in the market for a new driver! :(

I had a similar thing happen with my MP10 last month. When you unplug it and plug it in again does it try to start up, but fails and goes back to the blinking red light?

I also had an issue like this come up with an MP20 and I had to reprogram the driver. EcoTech CS talked me thru it.

Same thing I was about to type. My problem ended up being something that couldn't be fixed, but they replaced my MP10 for free.

No, it doesn't even attempt to start up. Just one flash and then nothing...

Is that one flash the color of the mode you have it in?

Flashing red light indicated that I had a bad board and it had to be replaced. They told me it managed to get wet and that was the reasoning the red light was flashing.

Good question, but no. I doesn't even flash but once. I have a call into Ecotech Tech Support.

Best Idea. After talking with them I found out that there are so many things that the blinking red light can mean that we would just be playing a guessing game.

Good luck
