Vortech MP-20 Keeps Turning Off?????

Every few days I'll walk by my tank and notice my MP-20 has powered off. Not an error code, but actually like it's not plugged in. Light and pump are off. I can unplug/replug it and it goes right back to working for a few days till I find it dead again. Anyone have this happen. No word yet from Vortech (and of course it's out of warranty now:sad

next time it's been running for a few days (and is still on) check to see how warm the controller/box is..

it could be an overheat breaker that doesn't automatically reset..

If that IS it, then just plug it into a timer that turns off for 10 minutes every 2 hours, then worse case, it'll be off for 1hr50min before it turns back on..

the timer will act as a reset switch


Of course it should be working properly...


whats the status of your tank? no updates?

When it first started shutting down I kept a close eye on the temp of the controller.....it's always cool to the touch.

Yea....I need to update my tank I guess. It's literally almost maintenance free, clean the glass like once a month and empty the skimmer evey 3-4 days. 10% PWC weekly and test parameters when I get a wild hair....LOL. I spend way more time feeding than maintaining. Really shocking how smoothly it operates. Getting rediculous growth out of the 400w Radium 20k but I do not like the color.....washes everything out it's so strong using the electronic ballast:sad:
