Where do yal think is the best place to put my Vortech MP40W ES in my 30 gallon.

Here is a picture for reference and a where the Vortech currently resides.

I cannot seem to find the perfect spot for it :/

Along with my vortech, my return pump is shooting out 770gph.

Any suggestions?

perfect placement on that MP40 is in my tank!! lol!!

most ppl have it where yours is now, some may say 770 gph on a return is too much

Man, you must have quite the maelstrom going in that tank. Is your MP40 es dialed down at all?

i run it 4 dots away from max lol usually keeping it in random mode or the one where it goes from short pulse to random

im not sure if my return pump is 450gph or 770gph
its a Little Giant - 2-MDQ-SC Inline Pump

the vortech smacks around that leather coral you see in the corner, it dosen't seem to mind but a constant beating cannot be good for a softie, can it?

I couldnt imagine the leather enjoys the constant beating, i would move it or move the powerhead. my only concern with running high flow thru the return is the skimmer doesnt get enough time with the water running thru the sump to skim efficiently.

That makes sense, I can adjust the outtake of the return, how low should i run it? half power, 3/4 power?

as long as the pump can handle being "throttled down" then i would try 3/4 and keep an eye on skimmer efficiency and adjust accordingly.

I can only speak to what i heard at the meeting with melev and the sump discussion. Returns are for just that, "returning water to the display" and should not in any way be a means of flow, 3-5 times tank volume per hour is sufficient return to the display vs. the 7-10 you read so much about. I would dbl check with someone or read on melevsreef before you adjust too much, dont want you to change your set up because one person said to...
