Vortech Question

So I picked up a used vortech that was like new, works great, however, I have noticed that during Reef Crest and Logoon modes mostly, when it gets to a point where the motor isn't turning all that fast, the unit shuts off and blink Red... no other colors just red.. i read the manual and found no reference to that... is this normal or is something messed up?

BTW even with this problem the pump still is awesome, can't wait to be able to afford the MP40 for my 40 breeder... also, should I upgrade the controller to the EcoSmart, or just leave it as it is?

I would call echotech. It isn't normal, but I haven't seen this happen w mine. Their CS is top notch. They will help any way they can

Ha, figured it out, the controller's microprocessor was detecting a false disconnect at the low speeds so all i had to do was reset the calibration and all is good now

found this info over on RC and was directed towards their FAQs page... that tell you how to reset I'm happy now.. now to start saving for a MP40

You could probably pick up a MP 20 cheap on RC right now. As they are phasing out that model. If not the MP40 run about 300 there used. So not a bad price.

well, i'm getting one MP40 to go one my 40 breeder rather than a 20, but i don't have access to the for sale forums on RC sooo it does me no good lol but i have a friend looking out for me for one when i rake up the funds lol

The MP 40 on the 40 is going to get a ton of flow. I've got one on the my tank it is 30x20x22 and it is alot of flow. I barely go past half speed. But bigger is better and it makes justifying an upgrade easier!

Well its gonna be mostly S/LPS after I take out the zoas and a few of the softies.. well the toadstool since that is the only softy lol but yea it makes upgrading more meaningful too

I have 2 MP-40's on my 65. It can get pretty crazy in there if I crank them up!
