I am about to start a 76 halfround all sps and I want to get you guys opinion on what size and how many vor techs to use.
I have never used them.

Personally, I think two MP40ws, and you'd probably have to throttle them back a bit. But at the least, I'd get one MP40w to start, and see how the flow goes in the tank. I started with one 40 on my 30" x 30" x 24" chalice tank, but added a second when there were areas that didn't seem to get enough flow. I have them in a master/slave configuration, and it works well.

You also might get away with two MP20s, but they dont have the master/slave programming. You could also turn these up higher than the 40s. MP20s can also be upgraded to MP40ws for about $150 if the need arises.

Heck, even MP10s do 1500 gph. Two would give 3000gph flow in a 72 gallon. Not bad either!!! 10s would work well in a softie or LPS tank, I'd think.

you'll enjoy the mp40ws I have two of them on my 120 and they are nice :) they aren't SILENT, but you'll learn to live with it when you start getting how good they are

I 'll have to ponder on this one. I do know that the halfround tanks that i have setup in the past had excellant water movement with regular powerheads because of the curve the water would follow. One powerhead on one side would move water toward the back on the otherside.

The key benefit that you will immediately notice with the Vortechs is the undertow. They push very broad and strong and pull better than anything I have ever seen.

I say two but you may be able to get away with one. If you have two you will not need to run them very high.
