Not really sure. Well, sorta...I just think that the Tunzes in my tank are too narrow of flow. They are amazing, don't get me wrong...esp with the controller. It's just that my tank is'nt really long enough to get the full effect of what these pumps can do. Which is why I may try modding the front housing to make the flow a little more broader. At any rate, the Vortechs aren't needed at all, just something to look into.

I agree that flow is as essential as good lighting.

The ONLY downside to the pumps is that they do create a noise that you'll have to get use too. It isn't really loud or anything, but it is something to consider, particularly if your tank is in a bed room or something.

When in NTS mode mine sounds like my phone is vibrating..im always checking my phone thinking someone is calling...lol

its always really noticeable after cleaning the wet side

Do you guys have the newest ones? What are they, the MP40es....or the MP40w. Is there that much of a difference between them?

The only difference btw a MP40w and MP40es is the ES is newer and has more programs available for you to use.

FWIW I currently have 2 on my 150 (60x24x25) and run them at half speed. On my new 75 I have 1 and it is turned all the way down and it is almost too much...

I just saw a MP40W sell for $200 on RC. You just have to monitor the FS forum like a hawk!

Derek just sold his here a few weeks ago for 275, that's a great price...I can't imagine 200!

yeah there some deals out there, like jaustin said, you gotta monitor like heck but the older ones are selling on ebay for about 330 used so if you find one under 300, there usually worth it pending the condition.
