I need to do a water change in my BC29 but my anemone is towards the top of my tank. If I do a water change it will be out of water for a couple of minutes.
Can they be out of water for a couple of minutes?
Or are they like sponges that need can not be exposed to air?

It will stress them a little, but normally it's not a big deal for nems to be exposed to air for a 2 minute WC.

I've had mine out of water for 10 min during a water change with no ill effects. Obviously try to do it as fast as you can...but I don't see any immediate rush.

Mine is on the top also. I just turn off the light so it won't burn and make it as quick as possible and it's ok. But then again, I don't know anything. I am just very lucky.:)

I just changed the water and it seems to be doing fine. I was very quick with the water change and turned my lights off. I hope it moves down.

If he's really that stressed, he'll move below the water line. I had 3 gigantic RBTAs that were just below the water line in my 120, and they did that every water change.

Just make sure your makeup water is the same temperature and salinity while your doing all of this; shouldnt over stress it.

I always try to keep the salinity and water temp the same when I do a water change especially with a tank as small as mine.
