Hi, I have been buying R/O water from LFS, yesterday, I was in Krogger and saw they also sell R/O water by gallons (GlacialWater stand) and it's half of the price of LFS.

Question1: can I use Krogger R/O water instead of LFS's?
Question2: Do I need to buffer it to increase KH and PH before topping off?

thanks

1. Yes, but be aware that they don't always change the filters regularly, so you may be getting less than perfect TDS in your water.
2. I'm no expert, but I understand that due to the purity of RO you get funky pH and alk readings, so personally I'd check my system parameters to see if I needed to dose anything.

Takes a tds meter in with you and test the water in a small cup before you buy it. People migh look at you funny but then you just tell them its for your reefer

I used to get water from Kroger but then then stopped because of the constant algea outbreaks.

Save yourself the time and hassle of cleaning algea by continuing to get RO/DI water from the LFS knowing it's good or get an RO/DI unit.

Hmm, these GlacialWater machine says it went through R/O filter. Did you get from those machines?

Agree, cleaning algae is on par with catching a 6-liner in terms of annoyance.

I'd just by a rodi unit, it's worth the money. I hooked mine up to my washer i get about 5gallons of ro water per load.

that would put a lot of strain on your filter, right?

All those vending mahines are simply large filters that vend water from the tap at the store. I worked at Publix for 13 years and never saw the filters ever changed;not that the glacier company doesn't do it, but I never saw them changed, only light maintenance.

works fine for me. I've seen alot of people do it that way no problems that i've heard of and tds is always 0.
