Water Reservoir for ATO

a dog food container - it holds 8 gallons with a pretty small footprint and a lid to keep evaporation to a minimum. Works like a charm.

A plastic Jerry can from WalMart (camping department). Slim so it fits anywhere, holds 6 gallons and is chemical free. Costs $10. I just cut the spout off and a maxijet 1200 fits in perfectly.

A jug the LFS sell to carry SW or RO. Holds 5 gallons. Drilled a hose in the cap for the tubing to run through. Works great and fits perfect.

A 5 gallon (clear) jug from a LFS that you buy water in. I use to use a 7 gallon Salinity Salt bucket with a slit cut in the lid from the pump hose.

Ha Rich beat me by 1 minute!

I use a 10gal Rubbermaid trash can with a cheap piece of acrylic on the top. Keep it in a cabinet next to the tank.

Same here but I ran a RODI line on a float switch so I never have to refill.

You can also get ato boxes on eBay in the 7g range for about $100

For those of you who have your ATO container inside the stand, and it's not removable; how do you replenish the RO water? I'm considering this for a future build. Hopefully my question will benefit you too, Janelle...I'm not trying to jack your thread.

I have one of the 5 gallon jugs that I drilled a hole in and attached a valve with flexible tube on the end.
All i do is sit the jug on a step ladder, place the tube in the container and open the valve.

I do something similar. I store my RODI water in the 5 gallon jugs you get from a LFS and then siphon it into my ATO reservoir. Takes about 25 seconds.

Very useful question! I tend to carry pitchers full of water to the tank from the back of the house to top off now but I'm sure there's a better way. Maybe people are just making their RO/DI water into the 5 gallon containers and switching them out? I can carry 5 gallons, I suppose.

I use a 20 gallon tall tank from petco for my ATO, I have about 3-4 gallon per day evaporation rate so this lasts me about a week before its empty.

My RO is connected to a 20 gallon tote with a float valve. I pump it from that into my 5 gallon top off container and carry it to the stand.

If you use a tunze osmilator, I've heard people say they will rotatable between 2+ 5 gallon jugs, the supplied pump fits right inside the jugs.

Here is a visual on the float I installed to my RODI feed line so I don't have to carry buckets. I have 2 tanks set up with Hydor smart levels and this ATO self filling setup, they have been working flawlessly and no more scarring buckets or containers of water.
