water testing and SPS corals

I'm wondering who has successfully kept SPS and not tested their water on a regular basis. I am red/green colorblind and it is so hard for me to read the test strips. I bought the red sea master reef kit and only used it once because I couldn't make anything of it. I had my 60 corner reef tank up for a year and mainly had softies but had a beautiful acropora that really did well. I was religious about water changes and did 10-20% every other week. I was wondering if is realistically possible to have a tank full of SPS corals and not test my water?? If there are other test kits that are easier to read please let me know. I figure if there is no way to have a thriving SPS tank without testing I can always have my wife read the test strips.

calcium on the test i use is a blue scale so that one you could do for sure.Also there are high dollar pinpoint digital readers you could buy but like i said there expensive!Probably quite a few options to help you be able to do water testing without worrying about the colors at all. I know some reefkeepers and similar devices have additional probes that can be bought that do constant readings.

There are a few companies that make digital readers. sounds like that's the way you need to go. some have multiple readings.

You could always run your water into a LFS if you have one close by.

Marine designs is 2 miles from my house, so if I go that route that's who I'd use.

i have quite a few SPS colonies......and i pretty much never test my water anymore.....just do regular WC's and dose a seachem reef fusion every 2 days.....only because i tested calc regularly for the first few weeks until i fugured out exactly how much my corals were using on a daily basis......
