i havent been doing as good of a job as normal with my water changes and tank maintenance since Ive been working a lot lately. My water has changed to a greenish yellow within 3 days. I did a 20% water change this weekend and it helped a little but not much. It seems worse today. Im mixing about a 50% change for tomorrow.

What could be causing this? My skimmer is still pulling stuff out and Ive had no additions/losses in the tank lately...Could it be just the lack of routine maintenance? Ive got a VERY light load in the tank so I dont feel a WC is a weekly necessity. I recently got a new light within the last couple months.

Sounds like phyto. I bet it'll be solid green in a couple of days. Wc will do nothing.

UV or ozone. I'd let the tank soak in phyto for a week, though. Your corals will be in heaven :)

Carbon will also get rid of the yellowish tint to the water after you take care of the green.

Interesting, I thought this only happened to FW systems. I have no clue why I would assume this but I did. What causes this in the first place?

UV... a properly sized unit will clear your water up in a couple days.. (of course, do a water change too..)
