All,

I bought a Tyree watermelon Chalice last year. It has now fully covered the plug. Do I need to remove this from the plug and glue this to a bigger rock or can I leave it as is? If so, will be able to grow out into the sand?

Thank you

Thank you for the feedback.

Do you recommend feeding the chalice? I used to feed it tiny shrimps but it was a pain.. Most of the time other fish steal the shrimp

It's best to feed at night when the fish are sleeping and the chalice has its feelers out, I feed mine reef chilli and cycloplese

I never target feed my BGM chalice and its been growing like crazy lately. I do use one of the brightwells twice a week and it seems to love that.

I have the exact same one growing WAY off its original plug at the sand bed and it's happy. I have about 300 PAR there. I feed it every couple weeks with frozen blends. High flow. Attached is a pic from about a year ago. Had about 25 eyes then. I think it might be around 50 now. I think I could have gotten much better growth either feeding it more, having less flow, or higher nutrient water.

One of my Fav chalices.

I turn my pumps off 2x a week after lights out and feed all of my LPS and Palys (some palys will eat). I just mix up some mysis, brine, cyclopeze, etc., and slowly target feed with a turkey baster. Also when you let it grow off the plug and across the sand it makes it easy to frag....
