I feel like i'm missing something here...

Are wave box's any good??
Anyone have document improvement over a period of time?
Seems like a tremendous waste of money
(Despite the ease of building one)

Some one please fill me in

They work great!

I have one on my tank and its making a good 3/4" wave which is more then enough to keep most detritus suspended. It also gets water moving in places where there usually is none.

Since I got it on there ive seen a bit more growth from my sps and alot more activity from my fish. Plus its really nice to see things gently swaying like in the ocean :)

Ps, I have 2 for sale if ya want one :)

Vortech pumps also have a wave mode that does a nice job if you don't want to use a box.

Ya Ill just make one, seems really easy.

How well does the vortech work?

Its not that bad if you can make the controller. Just be sure you have a big enough pump. a 6100 will work but you will need the 6200 impeller and shroud. Can usually be done for around $200.

Or just by one of mine for $250 :D

Wavebox.... Dunno. Seems like a lot of noise, splash & salt spray/creep, all the while creating a ton of commotion on the surface but what about at depth?

I kinda like my vortech. And as to what a vortech can do? I could easily push water over the edge of my tank with a short pulse wave.

Mine is almost silent, and it actually produces very little surface aggitation and no splashing at all.

At depth and behind rocks is where it has the most effect.

I forgot to plug it back in for a week once, when I did it stirred up all kinds of stuff.

I've had 2 tunze boxes and can't bring myself to like them. The result doesn't justify the price IMO

thats how I feel about tunze(and vortec for that matter) in general. $400 for a pump and $550-600 for a wavebox...HELL NO. But for $300ish they go for used, yeah I like it.

well.. I have 3 mp40s, and love them.

the wave box, though, I just didn't feel like it really accomplished anything. OK.. so I have a standing wave.... now what.. haha
