Does anyone run one of these?

Curious as well. If it could be adjusted with a controller I was thinking of using as a closed loop

There was some video's posted on reefbuilders web site and they looked very interesting. At that time the larger model was not yet in production.

Exactly!!!!! We don't need no stinking Vortex...

And yes Dylan. I am a little concerned about the heat from the Posideon...plus, with DC, I can do a PLC with timers. :D

Weeee...weeeee! That is the noise a guinea pig makes for those that didn't know...

here are some specs

Realize this is almost a year old, didn't think it appropriate to start a new thread.

Now that their new series is coming out (6000 and 12000) I'm pretty tempted to get one for my 75 and plumb it to replace my return and skimmer feed pumps and sump powerhead to save on heat/power and have less noise.

Did anyone ever end up trying one of these?

I gave up on waiting for the 6000 to come out, and placed an order for the 10000 (Gen1) this week. Of course, it's on back order now. Since it's adjustable, I'll see how it works. It will be in the sump, so the outlet thread issues I've heard about shouldn't be a problem. My current pump has been too loud for too many months, and I got sick of it.

I ended up snagging a 6000 finally and swapped out the oceanrunner 3500 I've had for a couple years now.

First impressions:

- Complete silence. With all other power heads off, all I can hear is water coming down into the filter sock in the sump.

- Flow is rated higher than the oceanrunner I had so I was expecting to be able to ramp the 6000 down to about 3/4 for the same flow. To me it seems like wide open I'm not getting the same flow but that's just by eyeballing the outlet into the filtersock.

- Power consumption is the main reason I sprung for one up along with reduced noise and it looks like a winner over the long haul. I have an eMonitor and the circuit my return and a couple other small maxijet powerheads are on went from a steady 270w to 85w, that's about $10-12 less a month just swapping out the main pump!

I know somebody running one on a 180 and he LOVES it. It was so quiet that I couldn't even hear it run. Looked like a great pump to me and he said that even after a year, he's had NO problems with it ever.
