OK......... So I am cycling my tank using a method with pure ammonia and my levels have been basically at zero for the last two days. I have also put two pieces of live rock on my live sand.

I have been keeping the light off and turned it on this morning to see better to clean the outside glass and noticed little bitty bug. They are on the glass and are microscopic and white. I know they are alive because they are moving. They look smaller than copepods but maybe that's what they are. I tried to get a picture but they are too small for my cheap cameras.

Anyone have an idea what this might be without a picture?

Great reference guide for those *** is that lol!

I still don't understand fouling a tank with ammonia when the live rock does it without "help"....

But yes, it sounds like arthropods of some sort. Copepods are usually very tiny, amphipods are a bit bigger (look a bit like fleas).

If they survive the ammonia, they're good to have in your tank.

Well Tyson, since your seeded LR came from me I can tell you I saw the exact same thing. As you saw, my rock was jammed with POD's.

I would have thought that the ammonia would have killed anything living, but I guess not. Thanks Seth!!

I get some of them on my glass as well. They look like baby starfish or something. I can see 5 legs and a round body and they are VERY small. I think I kill them when I clean my glass with the algae free mag. float. :)
