wet or dry skimmate

Which is better wet or dry skimmate and why?

Mine's always "wet" but Ares is right, I always have to tweak my salinity to keep it from dropping. It's no big deal. I keep saltwater mixed so usually I just add a cup or two of it to make up for the salwater lost to skimmate.

I prefer wet, it will keep the neck cleaner so more efficient, dry will clough the neck so you need to manually clean it often unless you have a cleaner head.

Since we are on the subject... I really have no idea how far up the neck the bubbles should go in my skimmer, I get very little skimmate and my nitrates stay between 20-40. I am thinking this may be due to me not knowing how to adjust my skimmer properly. Should the bubbles go up to the top of the neck right before they spill into the cup or just up to where the neck begins??

I keep the water level in my skimmer right below where they collection cup connects to the body. Kinda where the O ring would be
