what constitutes a colony?

I mean, is there a definition of how big a "neighborhood" or coral needs to be before it is officially deemed a colony? I've seen ppl refer to colonies as football sized corals, and others refer to a mother colony as what I would consider a decent sized frag.

what do you consider "colony" size? or does it matter what the coral is?:fish:
 
Everyone will have a different meaning. Technically, anything more than a single polyp would be a colony, but I think the general consensus is that it's a "reasonable size."

I generally say that anything bigger than about baseball-sized is a colony.
