I just finished building my stand and stained and polyurethaned it and put the tank I have on it... and the stand is not long enough. it was supposed to be 36.5" but is 35.5" what do I do? The tank is a 36" long acrylic and hangs over about a 1/4" of an inch on both sides... suggestions?

I'm sure I'll have to get another tank but I was hoping to have it up and running before this weekend... o well.

Can you replace the top? A pic might help to figure out some type of solution.

Is the tank completely flat bottomed or does it have a rim? Does the stand have a complete top or just a rim? If the tank is totally supported and you're only worried about how it looks, then go to HD or Lowes and get some decorative molding to finish it off.

I hate to say it but a picture of the top would help.

I would put another top over the existing one and trim it up with some nice molding. Problem should be solved.

hm, i could remove the top too and replace it since its not attached directly to the stand... but geez, thats another half week of work and the fishies are ready for their tank lol.. hmm, i could use the current top for something else... i might do that..

Cory, it looks like it is a flat bottomed tank with a total flat top surface stand so weight/support shouldn''t be an issue. I've read that acrylic tanks should have a piece of styrafoam padding under the tank so I'd add that and then add finish molding/trim to make it look good.

Well, I think my dad went to lowes while i was at work and was making me another top... but i don't want to spend a lot of money on that big of a sheet of foam so does anyone have an extra 3'x2' piece?
