I was wondering, Charlie had a post today that I thought was a pretty good idea:

remove vibration noise/transfer from a powerhead to a surrounding surface by using silicone to adhere two lengths of tubing (I assume 1/4" or something small) to the bottom of the powerhead (creating a vibration isolator).

Durso (or gurglebuster) Standpipes are another example of a sound quietening device on our systems.

What ideas have you used to either reduce noise from vibration or otherwise dampen sound on your system?

(in the base cabinet, sump, overflows, etc...)

I am using foam insulation around my SCH40 pipes to eliminate the waterflow sounds.</em>

I also collected tons of old mousepads (the foamy ones) and put them under my pumps</em>

Put the sump and all supporting equipment in the basement.

Did a gatevalve mod on the asm skimmer so the water flows back into the sump instead of waterfalling back into the sump.

Turn the TV up. What good is a few thousand watts of surround sound if I don't use it once in a while?

And I wonder why my power bill is so high...
