Hi:

I have looked-it-up, researched many of the websites and postings (and videos), but I still do not see how it differe from a non-closed loop system. Is the difference merely a matter of where the returns are positioned relative to the intake? Thank you and please excuse what may appear to be a silly questions given the wealth of information out there.

Thankjs for reading and have a great weeknd!

Tony

Water is drawn from the tank to the pump and then returned directly to the tank. No sump. Great for water movement without powerheads.

Gotcha! Thank you!

I guess one uses a HOB skimmer?

I have a closed loop system and a open sump return system. Skimmer in the sump. Closed loop only refers to the fact that no filtration or anything is used to slow the flow from the pump. Tank, Pump, Tank
It is not related to a sump system, they are seperate.

It has nothing to do with filtration. It is for flow only. Think of it as a powerhead.
