I'm just curious what my Ricordea is doing, Here's a photo.

The ric in the bottom right of the photo, he seems very happy and enlarged but I don't know why he's bubbling like he is. Ca: 455ppm, Mg: 1355ppm, DKH: 8.4. 0 nites, nates, and ammonia, also running a GFO reactor 24/7 for phosphates.

Let me know if anyone knows what he is doing and whether or not if it's a good thing/bad thing. He seems happy but I've never seen my rics do this, so please teach me =) happy reefing!

Ksicard...What type of light and water flow are your rics in? i have had one for over a year and it has not done anything but, it is a live. All my other corals are doing great. thanks mike

I have some highpowered LED's that are cut back to 40% power.

And for flow I have a 500gph return pump as well as a mp40w and a mp10w running in the ecosmart modes.

Ime, when yumas are growing and feeling good they will sometimes bubble.... I had a colony that did that right before a few new ones would appear...

I have been told before that mushrooms can swell in parts as part of waste removal/digestion/metabolism. They swell with water and then expel it after a while. Mine do it all the time and then the shroom seems to go on a growth spurt. I think you are fine.

Thanks for the insight guys, so it seems related to growth spurts. So hopefully this is a good thing and I should see baby florida yuma's soon. If anyone has any links to articles on the matter please post them, I'm just curious to the scientific reasoning of what the yuma is doing.

I dont have any links for you but something you may find cool. I do anyway. If you feed the corals heavily take a look at the shrooms a while after the lights go off. I usually see swelling in different spots. Sometimes the trunk/base is huge and you can see through it. Sometimes it turns into a huge swollen ball.

I'll see what happens tonight when I feed my tank. Thanks for the tip. Just curious but what do you feed your mushys? I use a mix of cyclopeze and rods food original blend.

I dont spot feed them all the time but will sometimes give a little mysis or enriched brine shrimp soaked in selcon. Most of the time i will mix up some reef chili from BRS, selcon, cyclopeze, phyto or oyster feast sometimes, and reef bugs. I know, I know -most Marc Weiss products are snake oil but I swear that reef bugs work. I get a great feeding response even when I give it alone.
