what is the best way to remove phosphate?

I've been using GFO since 2005 (or so).............generally speaking....phates stay at .028 or less.

do you put GFO in your first chamber or second chamber? What pump/flowrate you use to feed water thru?

you can use a BRS dual reactor, but personally, I use and prefer two singles. If you use a dual, then your flow rate thru the carbon is set by the GFO.

GFO needs a much slower flow rate than carbon, as it needs to be in a fluidised state. You can flow more water thru carbon if you do it separately.

thanks mystery. sorry my bad...I din't mean to just asking Dave to really anyone who had experience using these products. I'm trying to buy the right thing.

I use the granular kind. Lots of folks swear by the Rox type, but I usually just buy the 5 gallon bucket of lignite from BRS. I don't see the Rox pellets as being worth the price difference, but that is JMO. The smaller particle size would probably filter a bit better, but clog up sooner, whereas the larger particle size would keep flow better, but filter a bit less efficiently (less exposed surface area). I think I use the larger grain size.
