I found him on the glass in my son's BioCube29 today.

If he's harmless, I'll toss him back.
If not, I'm sure he has siblings.

Oh...he's about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. If that helps at all.

Looks like a nudibranch or a flatworm. There are good and bad of both. I haven't seen one quite like that, but You could google pics of both and try to find a match.

I'm all about that google...
So far, nothing useful. Not done yet.
I'm hoping someone here has seen these guys and can give me the 411 on them.

Yeah, I was about to feed him to my Tube Anemone but...if he turns it down and it's not a reef friendly creature, I don't want him wandering around in my main tank.

Odd little creature! I've never seen anything like it!
If you don't find out you could ask the Wet Web Media, they're awesome!

Any idea? I'm intrigued.

Sell it on E-bay. I'm sure somebody would buy it. Just state that "it's one of a kind". Highest bidder gets to take it home.

I still have no idea what it is.
I didn't put it back in the tank. Today, I saw another one. I knew he had siblings in there somewhere.

I'm hoping he's something good and not something that's going to kill my son's fish or corals.

Funny looking thing , do you have any way to quarantine them until you can Id it , if not id toss it just because I seldom trust things I didn't introduce to the system.

i'm not jenn by any means but that thing is definitely some type of nudibranch. i cant say if its good or bad. the reason i'm sure its a nudi is and not a flatworm is the two antennae coming out of it. that's characteristic of nudis. flatworms don't have antennae but they do eyes and they seem to raise the part of their body where the eyes are on and it looks like antenna or eye stalks but its not.

+1 and Jen will know more.

just reread this, please excuse my lack of proof reading. i had a customer walk in as i was typing so i just finished typing and hit post. it should read as above and not as it did in the original post.

I heard my name in vain... again ;)

I was going to say it's a planarian of some sort too but Pico brings up a good point about antennae, although I'm not sure those are antennae. Its shape says planarian to me...

It could also indeed be a nudibranch. Most of the hitchhiker nudibranchs I've seen are of the coral-munching variety although most have been somewhat frilly looking.

If in doubt, get it out.

Where did you find it? Was it on the glass or on a coral or something else?

Jenn
