What is this (x2)?

Couple of new nuiscances in my tank. What are they and how should I deal with them (or should I)?


First pic, I'm wondering about the long white string-like things. Spaghetti worms? Something else?

Second pic I'm wondering about the brown hair-like stuff all over the rock. I assume it is some type of hair algea, but is that correct? How do I get rid of it?

There is a starfish on your second pic dysentery look like a good one for a reef tank I wouldn't worry about the alge IRL run its corse then it should go away. No clue on the worms though is that mucus or soft tissue there releasing

Yeah the asternia star is not the issue. It is that brown grass looking stuff around him. Any clue what it is?

The white things in the 1st picture move in the current so they are flexible.

The first Pic looks like a stringy sponge, is it a pinkish color? If it is Spaghetti worms you should be able to tell when you drop food on them, they will try to catch it. The second looks like a brittle type of algae that came in on one of my rocks. The second I didn't like the looks of, so I took a new tooth brush and cleaned it off in a tub of old saltwater, when I did a water change. I don't think either was a problem for the tank! Holley

I do have a lot of 'normal' sponges in the tank (which is good I gather), so I'll do your food test to see if they try to grab the food or not.

They don't look pink'ish to me, pretty much solid white, but I'll check again to be sure.

1st pic - Do the strings 'suck' back into the rock over time? (or even if something touches it?) &lt;&gt;

Not sure. I'll try that too and report back.

the one thing I am definitely sure of is they have grown noticeably longer over the past few months.

They are bryozoans most likely. Normal and harmless.

The first picture is tiny fanworms. No biggie. The asterina is no biggie either.

The second pic - I don't know what that stuff is called but I've seen it many times. Also harmless.
