I need 2 for an upcoming vacation ~5 days.
The Eheim one seems to get good reviews but looks so bulky.

Eheim, ...but for only 5 days, i would consider no going without autofeeders. If anything, have someone stop by on day 3 to feed and check up on everything.

I second this but want to add if you go this route make sure to pre-portion out the food so there is no chance of overfeeding. I use the daily medicine containers for my house sitter.

+ 1, I’ve done that ^ and it worked great!

I also have an Eheim & inherited an Apex via a buyout. Eheim is great! Don’t really know about the Apex.

Eheim here. The little impeller to keep the food dry is a nice touch. Used industrial strength Velcro to affix it to the light bar up out of the way over the screen lid. Tiny food pellets just fall right through into the tank.

Ive had so many of the ehiem ones, they all worked great. I had one rust the battery terminals but it was dropped in the tank a few times.

I use them on QT tanks, the main tank and I even have one dropping brine eggs into the hatcher. They are great for fish like Anthias that need feeding multiple times a day.

Tips for use. Make sure its secured to the tank, they can be easy to tip into the tank if you bump it. If you are using small pellets you will probably need to tape off the outlet to reduce how much comes out. And lastly dont place it near an overflow or all your food will go down the drain.

Eheims came in today...they're not as big or as bulky as I thought they'd be.
I'll try to hook them up and see how it goes
