I've been stocking VERY slowly. I'm probably 6 months in and only have my cuc, a pair of clowns, and a few frags. I think its about time for more fish.

I really want some bangaii cardinals. Anyone have any advice as to what numbers they do best in?

1 or 2 if they are a pair. Young will cohabitate in a group but only for a short while. They are a lot like clowns and will even host anemones, but they mature much faster.

Right. They are picky eaters and are not easy to pair. I'm never 100% sure until they start spawning, and that usually takes live food to condition them.

So adding additional cardinals to a tank with an established adult is ill-advised?

I feed frozen foods. If I got two is there a chance they could hate each other? Will they have problems with my clownfish pair?

Yes, like I said, 50/50 chance. They should be fine with the clowns. I have pairs of both in all my tanks.

I started with three and ended up with one, so I was on the wrong side of the 50/50 twice. If I did it again, I would only buy them as a pair that had already paired up. Probably would cost more, but a better return than dead fish.
