I started with a calcium reactor, so I have never dosed manually for alkalinity. What do I use if need be for a couple days until my replacement part arrives for my calcium reactor? Is it baking soda?

Baking soda will raise pH... and it's only a bicarbonate not a carbonate or borate so it's kind of unstable ...

Seachem Reef Builder (powder) or Seachem Reef Carbonate (liquid) will raise alk. The former is more economical. The latter is just the former with water added :)

you can also use the ALK part of a two part like ESV B-ionic

baking soda or cooked baking soda.

Guys,
Thanks for the help and the offers, but I was able to get the calcium reactor back up and running using an Eheim 2213 cannister filter I had in storage. The calcium reactor is a GEO 618, and what happened was I swapped out my 5# CO2 tank for a 20# tank, and I think that as I was tightening the reg onto the tank, my wrench accidently caught on the tank valve, opening it up and flooding the reactor with a ton of CO2, like overfilling a balloon. This popped the eheim 1048 recirc pump cover and broke one of it's retaining tabs, but I found out later that it also compromised the glue seal on the top clear acrylic lid where it connects to a union, causing leaks at that point as well (a few drops when the reactor is pressurized).

I emailed George Weber (owns GEO) and he is sending me out another lid today, so hopefully I should be back in full working order by Friday, but the reactor can limp along for the next couple days as is. That is some great customer service!

I have the reactor and 2213 in a shallow tub to catch any drops from the reactor.

Thanks Robb. it was one of those situations where you try to fix one thing and two other things break. I was going thru 5# CO2 tanks (having to swap out for new tanks) too quickly for my taste, hence the switch to a 20# tank.
