Need to buy a better light for my refugium, currently using a weak 10 watt zoo med bulb. What fixture/bulbs do you guys use?

I'm curious on this too..... I would like to see what everyone else's setup is too.

I'm using the standard reflector/hood you can buy at walmart for $6 and an energy efficie t floodlight that is (5000k).

I use a clamp on lamp holder and a standard compact fluorescent lamp. About $5 from HD.

This is far the best way to go.I did the same 6 yrs ago.Its been growing like crazy. The bulb i get is a fluorecent, 55k.

Clamp on fixture with a led spot light from the depot. The bulbs were on sale and it has worked better than my CF spot I use to run, plus virtually no heat.

I used an old Perfecto hood from a 5½-gal and modified it. I mounted it to a flexible arm thing I had laying around, so it didn't need to sit on the frame of the sump (in the way)</em>. I use two 13w 6,500K sprial CF bulbs.

I prefer a simple mechanics lamp outfitted with a par30 or par38 3k LED bulb (about $35) from Lowes/Home Depot. I find that these run very cool, and promote extremely fast growth. This is obviously not an option an a nano tank.

30" Aqueon LED fixture with all 3 add on LED tubes.

Edit: Found it dirt cheap though..

Ended up going to Home Depot and buying a cheap clip on lamp ( 9 dollars) and a "Plant Bulb" for 6 dollars. Total of $15. Looks real close to 6500k. Creates alot of heat lol..

8W Innovative Marine LED
I basically got this for free. I wouldn't have paid $100 for it, but since I have it, it makes a nice fuge light

Got my first ever ball of algae today (thanks Ryan!) and am going to try his suggestion. His algae grows like crazy with the LED bulb.

When I had a fuge I used a cheap clamp on drop light with a 6500k cf corkscrew lamp. $15 with an extra lamp.
