I just hooked up new ro/difilter and want to start mixing my own saltwater.
What's the difference in mfg.s salt?
Thanks

thats a good start for your research. I use reef crystals

I use Seacheam's Salinity.
I used RC for a while before Salinity was released. I like Salinity for the main reason that I dont have to dose as much suppliments in between water changes.

I was told RC was the best that&#8217;s why I started using it. They were out so I got IO. Then I got a super deal on the SC. then I started testing the trace stuff it holds good with no additives for me but I just added a couple of things so that could change. So soon I will be switching over to IO as I got another good deal and see what happens.</span></span>

I have been using Reef Crystals and have been happy with the results but I am almost out of my bag so I am planning to buy a bucket to save money....just want to make sure I make the right choice for my next 9 to 12 months worth of salt....:)

here is a poll i started to see how people dose:

looks like there are a handful of people that go this route. imo, it can work as long as you keep up with weekly water changes and do not stock your tank heavily with sps/lps

Since I have such a small system (maybe 25 gallon total system) it seems like everything is ok with just %20 changes every two weeks, but thats just going by the fact that everything is growing well and opening fully. Maybe it could be better...

have you thought about doing 10% weekly? less fluctuations should occur

started out with reef crystals went to instant ocean for a lil while then switched to salinity . Don't think I will be changing brands anytime soon have had good results

I use io in my 210, but use the good stuff for the 93. I used to use RC in the 93, but saw better color and growth after I switched.
