Hi all,
I have a 500g mixed reef system and I'm using an MR-2 Protein Skimmer. This skimmer work well when the system was smaller, but now appears that will no do the job.
Is there any good one that does not have an astronomical price?

I've seen a few bubble kings selling on RC for around a grand. One of them was used on a 500g system as well and the thing looks like a monster.

My total system volume is about 550 and ill be running the bubble king ext 300 which i got for a steal on here. Just be patient on here rc, or r2r and youll find one...

Bubble KING is expensive, but I can say you get what you pay for.

I have one and I don't know that I'll ever have another brand.

Its just my opinion.

PM me if I can help further.

Indeed it is, but you know the saying in this hobby. Buy smart, buy once.

This is on RC right now for 1.1k

Bubble King Supermarin 250 with Red Dragon 2000 - $1,100 shipped

not sure about how it is priced no time to check

ALSO with BK.. make sure you are running the GEN 2 mods...

I agree with you, but right now there are many in the market and I'm just trying to buy the right one.
Thanks for your advice ...

fair enough.. make sure you look at the air intake on the pumps :) the pump makes the skimmer!!

The bodies are just acrylic tubes (yes some differences affect performance I know).

ALSO... I'm not completely sold on the "cone" fad. That one is up to you :0
