My birthday is tomorrow and i might be getting some money, and i dunno what i'm going to buy. i am probably going to be upgrading to an 120 gallon in may, but i don't know what to start buying for it, i probably won't have enough to buy the tank itself, but surely there is something i can buy.. any suggestions?

shouldn't i wait and see what the tank and sump type will be to get the skimmer?

You don't have to wait till may. I got a double secret something in the works and my 120 plus sump is going to be in need of a home. I could think of no nicer place I'd like to see it go to than elberton Ga.

:)

If I were going to do it again, I plan my sump based on what skimmer I had planned to go with. That's just me.

You seem pretty decided on a 120. If you aren't certain on the tank, don't buy anything. Save the money.

Yes!

I'll make you a deal on my tank (125 long footprint, Skimmer, stand, canopy, led lighting, sump, return and rock/sand if you want it)

Speaking from experience… oh my. I built the first sump and never used it. the 2nd one was with the intentions on using a sea clone (not big enough skimmer) but I had no room. So I added a remote sump until I did my upgrade from the 75dt and sump to the 120dt and sump.

Well I made enough room for the skimmer and filters when I decide to use them (two 4”) at the moment I have a 7” in it. but the problem is when I built this sump I was going to run 1” drains across the back side of the sump and decided to run 1-1/2 and I had to drop 2 of them on the right side at the end. I don’t know where I’m going to put the pump for my reactors yet. I have room on both sides if I use a MJ1200. I might be able to shoe horn a mag3 or 7 in the skimmer side but had I not changed my mind I would had had the room.

So in short get all of your happy stuff and drains and such and decide where everything is going to go and then build your sump

I would love a 125, but like i said i need a 4 foot tank /:.. i may buy a koralia, i need some more waterflow in my 75 gallon anyways and save the rest for the 120

I wouldn't buy anything until you know for sure what your doing. If nothing else use that for a deposit on your tank to lock u in

18th birthday ;), lol and I just ended up buying a female leopard wrasse. I'm saving the rest, I decided on a 150 gallon instead also, since the LFS I use most gave a great deal on one

Leopards are beautiful fish. Mysterybox can probably give some great advice for weening it to feed on frozen foods if yours isn't eating yet.
