I got several new frags at the meeting and came home, acclimated them, and proceeded to put them in the tank. All was well until I put in the red and green candy cane which never closed up and was fully open with feeders out the whole time. When I sat it on the rock where I wanted it my male maroon clown bit it first then grabbed the frag plug in his mouth and shoved it off of the rock. Then my regal tang started slapping it with her tail wither her fins all spiked up. Then she just shot around the tank to try to bite and slap all of the other fish she came across. Very agitated but why? Whats different about this coral that would piss my fish off like this?

lol It was pretty funny watching that little clown try to pick up and then shove the frag (which is pretty large) off of the rock. He said " I don't want that junk here.." It is pretty close to the toadstool which he and his lady hosts.. Maybe they have plans for that flat piece of rock :fingersx:
Maybe you are right about waking up the tang. I've never seen her be aggressive at all before and she will even eat out of my hand, but she even tried to give me a smakaroo with the tail..

I did have super glue gel on it, but just a little.. Didn't stop him.. guess it wasn't cured good yet. It's ok though. I moved the frag. Don't want my spoiled little fishies unhappy. lol

I had a bi-color blenny that turned into a nipper and smackdown artist due to corals in her turf. Apparently I was attaching corals too close to her home. I eventually got a green slimer hoping the slime would stop her, but it didn't, I just had to get rid of her. She would only nip and attack corals right outside her cave.

Maroon Clowns are notorious for moving even heavy rocks if they don't like where you put them.

The only fish I ever had to redecorate my tank was a huge maroon clown, and still to this day, the only fish I've ever named. She would take huge chunks or rock out of her end of the tank, and fan all the substrate back to the bare bottom in one end of my 55g

I can understand the clown moving the frag.. it was close to his space.. but the darn regal tang just went crazy! She was seriously smacking it with her tail and tried to get me too. I really pissed her off. lol Today they are better.. for now.. I still have to attache the candy cane somewhere. I just sat it on the bottom last night AWAY from the clown fish space just so I didn't stress them out anymore.. Now, Where to put it.. I suck with arranging things to make them look good. I need someone that is great with aquascaping to come redecorate :)

My female Maroon is constantly headbutting frags knocking them off rocks, fanning substrate all over the lower ones. A real tyrant - doesnt bother the other side of the tank, just hers.

My regal does the "tail smack" everytime I use the algae scraper (long handled thank goodness) and when i feed the corals using the long handled baster.

When I added a little mushroom frag a while back, I put it too close to my maroon clown's barnacle home. He viciously attacked it for about 15 min but gave up when it wouldn't budge. It was funny watching him though.

So the LFS said the spines are venomous. What do they do to humans if tagged? Just hurt a lot or more?

I don't think tangs' scalpels are venomous... just a cutting weapon. I could get corrected here, though.

Foxface and Rabbitfishes are venamous but im not sure about a regal tangs scalpels, I would probably rather be hit by a venamous smack though then get my wrists sliced open in all that saltwater...lol

True!!

Tangs tail spline are not venomous...And usually don't cause much damage if any until they reach maturity....splines aren't big or shape enough for the most part....but they'll still try to use them as juveniles....my sailfin swats at my fingers but he's just a little guy..in any of the tang species as far as I know.....rabbitfish, foxfish, and squirrelfish has venomous dorsal spines....and the there the dreaded ferretfish......they just have a certain aroma about them though.....nah I'm kidding....
