I am just looking to see if people prefer granular, pelletized, or high capacity? and why if you don't mind?

i use phosban no reason why really im sure theres better brands lol

I use granular because i read somewhere that was the way to go. Could be wrong, but... eh. The only thing you need to watch for are the fines. I generally run the reactor into a bucket until the output runs clean and i'm good to go.

Ok, perfect. Thank you. I am just about to start running GFO/Carbon rather than Chemipure due to the cost on larger systems so just trying to do right the 1st time.

Edit:

Crew,

Perfect. I read the thing about running the 1st few gallons threw the reactor and dumping it due to the fines as well, glad to see the consistency. Thank you this is the kinda info I am interested in other than the type people use.

this is the brand he was talking about

Thank you, I thought it was and acronym.

Rowa phos is a GFO that is very good at reducing phosphates to undetectable levels. Do a search on any reef forums or yahoo and even you tube and learn more about it. I've not used any other GFO, but may get some from BRS (bulk reef supply) next time around to see if I like it just the same.

I change mine every 4-6 months.

So far that is the winner.

Anyone,
Why not pellets, just curious? more fines? to small? Don't want to deal with the additional filters needed in the reactor?.......Or another reason?

I have been using Seachem's Phosgaurd(aluminum oxide). It's been keeping the phospahte at 0ppm, so I guess it has been doing its job.

TLF phosban in a 150 reactor. Thinking about switching to a BRS product but I still have some phosban left at this point.

So what is the purpose of putting rust in your tanks? I have never really understood this , can someone please point me in the direction to an article or two?
