Looks healthy to me. There are numerous variations of euphyllia, lots of hybrids and what not. You just have yourself a unique one that's all.

yeah but when was purchased at LFS it looked like the typical hammer with long tentacles.

hmmm. maybe it just hasnt adjusted to the tank yet. its possible that since your light is different from the store (im assuming it is) that the hammer dosent look the same cause its simply not used to the light yet.

Yeah I don't know. It's werid I'm on my 3rd hammer just can't seem to keep them.

IMO it looks fine. My hammer has more compact heads like that and just keeps growing.

Different setups will lead to corals behaving differently in different tanks. I wouldn't worry unless you see head tissue recession.

yeah just gonna keep my eye on it. most the hammers i had that didn't make it receded pretty fast. i was just looking for something flowing in the tank.

Could be swollen since you've been feeding it. Lfs might not feed corals as much.

I think that's a healthy hammer.
One thing I always noticed when I had hammers / frog spawns/ and the like was that when they are around other similar corals they tended to open up a lot more.
Just my experience, but maybe that is what you saw in the store.
It could also be flow. If he is in a high flow area it may retract more

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

yeah i have in in my my tank to the far right corner with a MP10 on the opposite end at only 15%. its also with a frogspawn and a green torch.

Looks fine to me. I'd move it up off the sand and into the rocks, it's not really a bottom dweller.
