Well I had ordered several choice Frags that had to be ordered from ORA and shipped in to LFS and shipped back out to me . Shipment was approx 300.00+ Well the shipment was suppose to deliver today by 3 but Fed Ex has had some delays and will not be able to deliver until tomorrow which makes it about a full 48 hours in the box . These came from Washington and I am sure the weather there is cold just like here. I know they ship with heat packs but what are my chances they arrive tomorrow and SPS are going to be ok?
I was thinking of telling the company to cancel my order and refund my money and just try again later rather than waiting and accepting the corals and dealing with any credits / store credits later? Really stinks
Either wait and receive the pkg or Cancel and start again another day??
This was my early Christmas for myself so it's not looking good:shout:

I would take delivery but I would notify the seller of the problem

Edit: Can you pick up at the terminal tonight?

I agree with grouper. Im the same way though, always want things to work out perfect. Will be a chance to see how credible the co is also. Trying to be positive......

Thanks Grouper,
I have notified them and they have let me know if I have any dead frags arrive they will make it right but I have never worked with them before and I have had some good experiences and I have had several losers for sure. I was just not sure if the sps would make it after 2 days in the cold? Its just alot of money to risk and a PIA Especially since I sat home today waiting also.
I checked on Picking it up I am not sure it will make it in time it was in Indy at 3:30 leaving terminal.

Most companies will not reimburse or pay again for shipping, and just cover the replacement or cost of the coral. Just something to be aware of. There is usually a disclaimer to this effect somewhere on their website.

So far thats has happened a few times. I ordered 300+ get free shipping then 1 or 2 frags die I send them the pics and they say ok we will give you a credit ? 75$ then if I want more the shipping is 50$ or I have to buy more corals to equal 300$?
Thats why I was thinking of not accepting any of the order and get all my money back and try again?

Grouper is right, except the order. FedEx does not guarantee any live orders</em>. You are relying on the seller to make it right. If you do not accept the package the seller might not be so willing to work with you. But with a 2 day ship you will be real lucky if your sps survives.

I would take delivery of it. You may be surprised. Turning it around will guarantee everything dies.

One thing I've been consistently amazed by in this hobby is the resiliancy of coral to bounce back after experiencing trauma.

You took the gamble by ordering online. I can't believe you're not wanting to receive the shipment and see the condition of the animals. Online sellers have great replacement policies, lets not take advantage of that.

Shane has ordered a lot of coral from me online, and has always been nothing but a pleasure to do business with. I can assure you and everyone else he isn't trying to take advantage of anyone.

If I were you Shane, I would take the package, document what everything looks like, and then contact the seller. If they are reasonable, they will likely make it up to you in some way if a few of the acros are dead.

What stinks is that it could be days before they flesh out if stressed enough. I would if you can, take a thermometer and slip it in the box and get an internal temp of the box before opening. If it held you might be ok. Chances are its in a heated facility, but who knows. When this happened to me they where on a truck in a yard, and toast due to temp. Acclimate VERY slowly as you know. Good Luck!

I am well aware of the policies and on my normal suppliers I stand with and I have even taken a loss here and ther and they do always take good care of me but just because this is a first time order and It is not my fault the Fed ex Shipping ( Next day by 3:) did not deliver and its a day late and After I sat home and waited all day at my COST and this was over 300$ and the temp outside has been down in the 30's at night for 48 hours does not seem like my chances are good to receive and if I disputed after signing It could turn into a issue even though it was no fault of mine. But I did sign and receive and to my surprise they all look pretty good except 1 ORA Blue vodoo But I checked the temp in all the bags when arrived 62 degress so I will have to give them a day or so. Some online sellers work with their customers and some just cut their losses and act like they will.

Thanks Ryan,
I do enjoy working with you and you have been great with me. I know there will be things that pop up and we always work through it .
I just don't know this place and they are located in Washington but they seem very nice and helpful so I thought the right thing to do would be accept and see what we have.
I have had a few bad buys over the internet and it makes me a little nervous. I usually stay close to home
Sometimes they say we will give you a credit and then you have to pay 50$ or more to re ship for 1-2 frags

You were right even with the temp at 62 in the water in the bags they look like most all are coloring up and some polyp extentions. I think only 1 dead and of course it was one I really wanted Blue Vodoo.
I believe they will reship if it's bleached out tomorrow.

I checked water temp in bag 62 Dang but they all looked pretty good. We will have to wait until tomorrow.

We tend to forget how tough SPS can be. Fortunately for you, the temp most likely lowered slowly.

Thanks for checking I received the package and acclimated and so far all but 1 frag looking pretty good. Kinda stinks because they had to get this one from ORA direct its the blue vodoo acro . I checked it just a little bit and its looking like it's a goner but 4 out of 5 look good:yay: I was a little worried spending that much and taking the chance but it looks like all are so far getting better. I spoke to the supplier and they were very nice I took pictures of each coral and the temp of the water in a shipping bag and forwarded to them right away and they said any issues and they will replace or credit . Looks like all the good luck my way worked.
Thanks again
I will post a few pics tomorrow or Fri .
