I've acquired an acrylic tank. It's scratched some from the use of a scrub pad to remove whatever was on the front of it. Like most acrylic, when filled with water, most of the scratches go away but if you look close enough, you can still see some. They aren't very deep so I don't think this will be that hard to do. What do you use to polish/remove scratches from acrylic?

I found this...not sure if it works but here it is...http://www.ehow.com/how_5124466_remove-scratches-acrylic.html">http://www.ehow.com/how_5124466_remove-scratches-acrylic.html</a>

Good luck.

i KNOW first hand it takes a LOT of elbow grease, or some nice power tools, to remove scratches from acrylic.

I got my mag kit from here.

Google 'acrylic scratch removal' for products, the above is just one example.

I used the stuff in the link below. It is not made for aquariums but is made for aircraft windshields. Obviously it has to be very good stuff to be approved for aviation use. I used it and was very satisfied with the results I got.

+1 on the Novus

I used to work at an arcade and that was what we used to polish the acrylic on the video game machines. Fine scratches disappeared and deep scratches became very faint. It doesn't take much work either to polish it in. GREAT STUFF in my opinion.

It's also fairly cheap :D

Not sure about regular compound. I used novus and a car buffer to take scratches out of 210g. Probably best deal to buy the kit where you get novus #1, 2 and 3.

Lifegard makes a Scratch Removal Kit. We used to use it on the big tank (1000g) even works if you have water (and fish) in the tank.

Yep, elbow grease, but it works.

Yeah I did the same thing after my mom used a rough sponge to clean the old 58g. I spent about 4-5 hours a day for 4 days doing just the inside.

Honestly, I will never do that by hand again. If you cant do it with a power drill then I would rather just buy a new tank, or pay someone to do it.

And by the way, its was all scratched up again a year later....thus why I will never own an acrylic tank again.
