Nirtrae: 5.0 ppm
Nitrite: 0
Amonia:.50 ppm
PH: 8.8

Why is my PH WAY up there? Last week it was at 7.8ish

And why are my nitrates high? I thought that was to be 0 when nitrites are 0

I could just be acting a little goofy in my though process but some please explain whats going on?

Also, is it best to use flakes or pellets? My clown doesnt seem to eat very fast when they are pellets, and most fall to the bottom, i dont want to underfeed hiom, but i also dont want to overfeed and have excess food laying around for me to pick up.

Nitrates are not bad at 5.0. I'd be more worried about the ammonia. You'll need to do a water change quick and determine the source of the ammonia.

Feed fish what they will eat in about 5 minutes. It does not hurt to mix up the food a bit between pellets, flakes and frozen.

what about the PH?

Also i have to move my fish tank, what the best way to do that? Load all the rock and fish in a rubbermaid bucket and do it quick?

Chris i see u lurking :) i was gonna ask u tomorrow but wanted to know what was going on ASAP

Not sure what would make it go up. Are you sure is test kit is not old or is working correctly. Some come with a sample to calibrate the kit with.

If it really is that high you'll need to try to compensate the diference with your next H2O change. Don't drop it way down though, you'll shock the fish.
