And is it ok or not? If not what to do? The patch is about 2" dia..

It's a kind of caulerpa, common name is Maiden's Cup.

Not harmful but if not kept pruned it can become invasive.

Depending on the size of your tank... a tang will likely eat it.

It's not bad stuff, just something that has to be kept pruned or otherwise trimmed.

IME it has been difficult to get rid of once it gets in and behind rock work. You'll have to make sure to remove it carefully to get the roots and such that branch out. I would def remove it now what it is a small area.

I had some of that, but eventually accidentally bought something that ate it. I always thought it was kind of pretty.
