So my Ph was sorta low and looking for a reliable method of reading/monitoring. Are Ph pens good? A test kit like salifert or should I buy a probe and adaptor for my RK Lite? I know the probe typically is best, but what are people's thoughts on the pens vs a test kit. Thanks!

I use two methods....a calibrated Reef Fanatic pH Monitor and I check that with my API test kit. Granted API isn't the best but hey....as long as they are close, I'm ok with it.

I use a probe with my apex. Mostly because of the graphing. Ph has a natural swing and it lets me see the trends.

I make sure Alk is 8-9, Calcium 450, and mag around 1350.....I never monitor ph.

+1

This is what I use. I have experimented with different things and was able to see the effect on ph. I also check every once in a while using a salifert test kit.

Thanks everyone. My alk is low...slowly raising. Sure wish I didn't get rid my co2 reactor. 2 part is good, but def hasn't been the same.

agreed. I have an elos PH test kit on hand. But I monitor with a Reef Angel ph probe.
