I have two AI Vega Color and I love them only been 3 months but growth seems good

Dang. Really liking the looks of the Reef Breeders controllable unit!!!

I am running a hybrid unit. I have 2-dimmable eShines, 1-48inch 423 nm flourescent, 1-48inch 10,000k flourescent (both flourescents are only 35 watts each and were only installed for coverage and accent lighting), and 1-24,000k 150w MH). The tank looks absolutely amazing when all lights are on, but, I only run the MH for about 2 hours a day...

I was perfectly happy with just the eShines, and had coralline algae growth from almost none in less than a week. I wanted more coverage, so I added the extra lights...

I'm just getting started, but, what I have have responded very well.

I just did some DYI with 60 Cree Blue and 50 14K whites and now my heater actually turns on due to removing the MH... I am running them around 30% right now to acclimate the corals, but everything in my tank, sps, lps, leathers, and zoas seem to be enjoying the lights... I would buy radions if it were in the budget, but with 4 tanks up and running and a 5th in the works, not really in the budget...

I have two of the 24" Reefbreeders LED's over my 36x36 cube. They have been great so far. No ill effects. Only wish I could do real incremental dimming with the included controllers, but oh well.

Please elaborate about the dimming. Been studying these lights all day.

Basically the dimmers will let you go from 10% to 100% with any percentage of your choice every 30 minutes. For instance...you could go from 10% to 12% from 12:00 - 12:30 and then 12% to 20% from 12:30 - 1:00 and so on. Anything value below 10% turns the full spectrum lights off. The moonlights can be adjusted from 0% to 100% with 1% being a real value. The controllers are linkable, so you only have to program one, and there is an on board memory, so should the power go out and come back on, your program shouldn't be forgotten. Does that help?

I have the new Radion over my new set up but its still in acclamation mode (4 week program) so I can't speak for performance. I must add that their customer service is excellent. I've had to make several calls, one because the new Radion power supply has a quirk and wouldn't work with a GFI. They have been very helpful and professional.
After reading up on the Reef Breeders led and reading the above credits in its behalf, I'm impressed with the performance, especially at that price.
I'm sure we all agree it has taken awhile for most companies to perfect LEDs for reef grow but it just keeps getting better. Soon as with all technology, Good LED Reef lamps will be produced by a lot more companies and the price will continue drop. Heck even the "new" Radion light is $100 cheaper than the last model out!

It does. My eShines don't start getting bright or dim until the last 75% of the dial. Kind of difficult to dial in. Thinking of getting Meanwell drivers to help them out, but am hesitant about spending extra $ on their design flaw. :boo: :mad2:

I've been happy with my AI Sols. As mentioned above, Radions are very good as well and was on my short list. It is just the initial $ outlay that stinks for both of these brands. I needed more punch to get through a deep tank - AI's fit the bill better in that dept. If I had shallower tank, I would have gone radions due to wider spectrum.

It's a good looking fixture, the LEDs just aren't up to par. I'm thinking about getting even better ones. Suggestions?

Edit: And I don't mean fixtures, I mean bulbs

Actually, they are lamps. Bulbs are something you plant in the ground. hehehehehe I have never researched the LEDs like others have so I won't be a lot of help to you.

Y'all are crazy. LOL...

3watt Cree LEDs are always my first with Bridgelux at a close second. Just be warned that it may be more than just an option of changing out the LED bulbs themselves. You may need to get into replacing drivers, power sources, etc to make them work with that fixture. Not impossible. Just may be a little more than meets the eye...

Best of luck!!!
