This brings up the other current supposed fact being preached on RC again, that by giving the corals in your reef a wide temperature swing during the day, you are conditioning them to be tougher so they are more likely to survive higher temps in a power outage or any event that spikes the temperature up or down.
Maybe by that logic, we should start purposely varying the KH, magnesium, and calcium to "toughen up" our corals so they can survive any chemical swings if we get lazy with our maintenance, huh? Just joking .
So much for stability. I don't think it is as much the temperature you keep corals at (within a certain range), but providing consistency.
