So the FS threads are dominated by the zoas, acros, and chalice... Just wondering if any of the local ATL reefers have some of the LE favia... I've been looking at Dragon Soul, Event Horizon, Mia Pot of Gold, and Mayan Sun...

I would love to see some pics if anyone's got 'em, and any info about how they've grown out for you... I'm not quite in the market for them yet, but I hope to be soon...

Just thinking that some of these LE favia don't get enough love around here...

I picked up a real nice Favia recently. It was named "Malibu" Favia. It has 4 colors green, blue, red / pink, and yellow. It has very small "heads" and seems to be a quick grower. When my lights come on I will try and get a pic.

I picked up a really nice Favia a few months back from Wet Thumb Frags that has purple, pink, and touches of blue. It has been an extremly slow grower and it took it a good month just to color back up after shipping.
I too have noticed that you do not see much attention paid to them on ARC.
I really want a Solar Flare Favia.

I love favia, but they seem to be hard to find around here..
I have:

Ktar's Aphrodite
SC Green Hornet
Efrain Roswell
Efrain Crop Circles
Efrain Doppleganger (i think this is an acan enchinata?)
Tyree Paradise
Joker Favia
Ultimate Alien Eye

I think thats it.. love them though!

If memory serves me correctly Favia's were a pretty big thing a few years back, I had one that was a very slow grower but lost it in my tank crash last month.
I want to get another 1 or 2 for my new tank when I can find them

Did anyone else get one from the frag swap? I thought it was an awesome frag for a freebie.

wow i just googled it and saw a pic from spikes coral... looks amazing... i had never even heard of it and I'm constantly searching for new stuff... great find... just more reason for me to believe that favia is the 'red-headed step child of the coral world'.. LOL

Just looked up the Solar Flare as well, and that is a beauty... given what i've seen done on the boards with chalice group buys, I could definitely imagine that a favia group buy could turn out to be a really big hit, and a success for all those involved considering that favia usually grows decently well.. with maybe only a 50-100 investment for 5-10 people we could get our hands on probably 5-10 really nice LE pieces, and in the end after some grow out, everyone would be able to get at least 1 head of each... just a thought considering it seems like some ARCers are out there tracking down some of these frags.. we'd just need someone to have the diamond blade to frag 'em up...

I got my "Malibu" Favia from Spikes. It looks much better in the tank. :)

Edit: I can't get a good pic but you can see it here....

Yeah i've seen a few favia grow outs on other forums and but by far mostly all chalice ones. i think a favia grow out would be cool as well tho. plenty of nice pieces out there and far easier on the wallet.

I got a frag that I asked someone to take care of until my tank was back up. I was informed a few days later it didn't make it. Guess it looked too good in their tank (all in jest):lol2:

If I can ever get mine to grow you can have a frag of it. This one is green and purple.

I find that Favias just aren't that in demand. Acans, chalices, and even Favites tend to garner more interest. Not sure why, because Favias like Raptor's Peace, Mystic Grape, Mia's POG, Baby's Breath, Mayan Sun, etc are all extremely beautiful. You've inspired me to track down more favias!

Please do! It will give me a reason to place another order.
