We'll we finally got moved (mostly) into our new house. Now it's time to mount my RODI. I'm looking for a place mounting it and was thinking in my garage would be best and connecting it to my water heater as my water source. This would be easiest to have 2 brute cans to make a mixing station. I guess I'm not really sure what pipe on the water heater to tap into, any tips?

I have mine set up in the garage and I also tapped into the water heater. When you tap into it make sure you tap into the cold line supplying the tank and not the hot line feeding your house.
The only down side I have with it being in the garage is my garage is not climate controlled and I am unable to mix the water in the garage.

Mine is in a cabinet above my washer in my laundry room. It provides a supply, drain, and now worries in case I had a leak. I forgot to turn it off one day, and found out that my laundry room has a drain built in to drain any access water outside of the house into the yard. I'm at work, so I can't upload any photos, but, here is what I had. From another thread...

I have now taken the output line, and run it through my attic to my fish closet (right behind my tank and plumbed into my sump via a separate mixing tank) on the other side of my house with NO booster pump. It has a goes upward about 8 feet, then about 180 feet through the attic, and down another 8 feet to my mixing tank. These units can push more than we may think they can. I did, notice that it does, however take an additional hour to make 35 gallons of water, though. Small price to pay for not lugging 35 gallons of water across my wood floors...
I'll post more pics tonight if you are interested...
Oh yeah: With it in the laundry room, the temperature is also very closely matched to the temp of the tank.

thanks for the pics. i thought about the laundry room, being that it's right above the garage. The garage hasn't been that cold this past week so I'm not too worried about the temp, just toss a heater in the container mixing salt 
I wish I could find an easy way to pump water from the tank from the mixing container but it's clear across the house. I may try to find some sort of tubing to hook to a pump.

Yea I have thought of the same but never took that route of adding a pump. Winter is not my problem its the summer when the water is so hot.

That's what I'm trying to say. No need for a pump. I literally went to Lowes, and purchased some of the 1/4 line that our RO/DI units use, and plugged it right into my RO/DI unit after running it clear across the house. The RO/DI is able to pump it across the house by itself. I have my mixing container on a stand above my sump in the fish closet...

I have mine in what I call "the fish room", really its the utility room. Its plumbed to the sink and I have a 14g reservoir tank, it also provides water for drinking and ice to the upstairs refrigerator.

Looks like a fish room to me. We all know that once one or two tank related items show up in a room, it is taken over quickly. LOL...
So jealous of that sink. I'll bet it is handy in there.

Mine is in the garage, tapped into the cold water line to the water heater, after the cutoff so I can kill the water if necessary.
I have the waste water line tapped into the hot water heater's release valve drain line.
I also have two brute cans, the one for salt water is heated when I make new water and before I do water changes.

That is a slick setup. That has given me a great idea.... Mine is in the laundry room as well. I do have a large utility sink and room for my large brut. I do have attic access directly over my setup. I think I will do the same thing for ATO. Don't know about mixing.

Thanks, Man... It does, in fact work for ATO as well. Here is my ATO setup for now. The 5 gallon bucket is being replaced by a 20g tank tomorrow. You'd be surprised how much water evaporates out of these systems. I'm at about 3g-a-day...
T-connection leads to two cut off valves for filling either the mix tank or ATO container.
<span style="font-size: 13px"><span style="font-family: Calibri">When I plumb in my remote mixing station from the rodi unit I also went across the room in the attic but I used an old garden hose and pushed the 1/4" through it first. Main reason was for leaks. That small tubing will spring a small pinhole leak at the worst time and then you have to repair the sheetrock. This way if a leak happens then it will only come out the ends and then on the floor to be seen much faster with less damage.</span></span>

Hmmmmm. Dang good idea...
Exactly what I am doing... running RODI, plus fresh salt water and waste water... So I have three tubes in the hose plus a connector to a Neptune EB8 in the garage to control everything. Any leaks are contained and will not drip through the ceiling. Also have two pieces of twine in case I need to pull something else through later.
