Which Ballast????????

Well guess im going to have to buy a new ballast. I need a 250watt ballast that will plug into my odyssea fixture. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a similar fixture, and I would like to know which one as well. BTW what made you decide to get a new ballast, did it blow up? Or is it not giving enough par out?

Well par is horrible. But I have cheap bulbs as well. But yes in 3 months one of the ballasts went out and the lady at aquatraders..... that barely spoke english said there warranty is only 30 days and then your on your own haha! PISSED

I retrofitted a 48 inch Odyssea hood with 2 x 250 watt ARO ballasts and a 2 x 54 watt T-5 HO ballast (it had PC's in it). I could have bought a new one, with the new style ballasts, for less $$.

You can find the replacement/newer style black ballasts that are made in China, but they are about $70 + shipping. For the extra $30 or so, I would just go with the ARO's. -JMO

The fixture I have has the newer black ballasts! Still straight crap if you ask me.
