Which Controller Do you have?

I am going to buy either a reefkeepr lite L3 or a Elite V2 this week what are the major differences? Pros, Cons? I thought about buying the moon controll with it also.

You can see that the RKE and Apex are pretty much tied.

Really, I'd say it's geared torward Neptune since they have 3 products in the pole, vs. DA's 2.

But... its two different price points. The Apex Lite is really equivalent to an RKE in price and function. Of course, Neptune doesnt make an RKL equivalent... which is i'm sure one of the primary reasons the DA will grow its customer base faster.

it's true that Neptune Systems has been making controllers FAR LONGER than Digital Aquatics..

so overall, they're almost certainly going to have more units than the DA products(total market in use)..

BUT.. it WAS DA that has revolutionized the controller market by providing a nearly limitless (when considering the control-ability even the most sophisticated systems would require) platform for less than $100

Then one would assume that you'd see more Apex Lite votes than the RKE if it's superior, but that isn't the case...

And the fact that the RKE has been out longer has NOTHING to do with that? If you combine the Apex and Apex Lite votes you have a different story. I was merely indicating that the Apex Lite is not comparable to the RKL. An Apex is more like an RKE with extras and an Apex Lite is more like your base RKE with the added Net module and an extra PC4

Whatever... this is a personal preference anyways.

That's basically how I made up my mind.

And... if you're a savvy shopper, you can wheel and deal. I got my Apex Lite with pH probe for $375... okay so not a massive discount, but still.

My biggest reason for going with an Apex was the phone apps available. I'm not sure if any of the DA controllers have iPhone and Droid apps, but I can both monitor and control my Apex from across the globe via my Evo. Worth every penny since I travel a lot.
I can call my house sitter and say, OK go ahead and feed the fish (after I enable feed mode). Pretty sweet!

You can use iReef for the DA products, but its basically just a program that displays the RSS feeds from the head unit. Supposedly, My Reef is going to add some of these control capabilities when it comes out...

the factor that sold me on the Apex was that it was the only controller at the time by which you could CONTROL your tank while away.. (that way I wouldn't have to describe to a frustrated wife how to turn off a pump if something was overflowing - marriage saver, right there)

Still is... Dont think MyReef is available yet... or is it?

Nah, once you know the menus, it's a piece of cake. I told mine how to do it over the phone once.

nah, still in beta - although being able to control it via web has its own set of challenges too I assume. I mean suppose you get "the call" (got many myself) and you need to step in - that is assuming you are in a position to drop everything, get to a connection, log in, and hit a few keys....she could have already unplugged or adjusted whatever needed adjusting - im sure it has way more advantages though....cant wait

If you've got a smartphone you can get an app that makes controlling the tank super easy. For instance... I open Aquanotes on my Iphone, hit the off button on my return pump and 30 seconds later... its off

Yeah, but with a 600gph return, you're looking at 5g of water on the floor, lol. My return pump is on a switch on a DJ strip, when I get "the call" I can say "turn off switch 7" and it's done.
