Decorator crabs? Well they will trim your zoanthids and wear them... along with anything else they can clip.

I wouldn't recommend them in a reef.

The store I used to work at carried them - the sort that resemble arrow crabs.

One day I went to pick up a zoa colony that a customer had selected to buy and when I went to pick it up, it ran away!

They used to line the for-sale corals up in rows, and this one was sitting it the correct spot in the row, just like all the other "corals"... we both laughed so hard when it scurried off when I tried to grab "the colony"...

It was a pretty "colony" - had all kinds of different colored polyps on it - snipped from every other colony in the tank!

"Re-decorator"... they will re-decorate your tank... all over themselves!

Laughs, I had to find a picture... I'd never heard of one before...

And I thought the Pom Pom crab with his Anenome hands was unique... the wonders of the sea... I love it.

Until they snip up your expensive designer zoas...

Tuxedo urchins also pick up stuff and wear it. I had one once that wore a red mushroom just like a beret...

How can urchins pick up stuff? with their spikes? crazy creatures.

I used to have one from Warehouse Acquarium, I don't know if they still have them for $10.

I had one for 3 months, and saw him picking up 3-4 zoas polyps and stick on their claws. if you have plenty of low end zoas, go ahead. if you have those zoas that costs $10 a polyp, I'd re-consider.

my 2 cents.

I have around 300 zoas polyps. and they are not the expensive kind. I am sure they grow faster than a decorative crab can clip.

these crabs don't clip everyday, they will clip 1-2 polyps and wear them for quite a few weeks. and they are easy to catch (they move very slow).

if they are a problem, it will be much much easier to remove than a sixliner.

Jenn do you know anything about Pom Pom crabs... are they reef safe and fish safe?! haha...
