Which test result would you trust?

I have the ACJr Controller with a pH probe. It read 8.15 yesterday. I decided to test all the parameters using my API test kit. The pH from the test kit was 8.4 or 8.5.

I calibrated the pH probe when I installed it in early April.

Are test kits typically reliable for measuring pH? Would you trust it over the probe?

It's impossible to know which one is correct without reclibration of the probe or testing against a reference sample. Your probe could be out of calibration, or the test kit could be old. Without a point of reference, it's only a guess.
