I need a crew to off load the tank when it arrives in a few weeks, and they need to move it into my basement and put it on the stand in its final destination. (btw- it is the same elevation from the street into the basement - no stairs or "terrain" challenges, just a heavy 36" x 33" x 87" tank)

Suggestions are apprciated, as no one i know has a clue who to call for such a job...

the tank will be ready to ship in 2 weeks, and I want to get this lined up ASAP... (one less worry)

Go to Buford Hwy in Chamblee and find someone who is standing near the QT. "day laborers" Legal or not no one here will tell

Stevhan and ItsFishyBusiness is about the cheapest guy around for professional help.

Past that, you could always go to Home Depot and pick up some Undocumented Workers.

I'll pass on the undocumented workers...

besides, that's the guys that just hung the sheet rock last week, I can't bark orders in spanish, so that pretty much settles it...

do you have a phone number for the guy you listed in the previous post?

He is a sponser of ARC... here is his business info

thanks for the quick response Camron, this place is really awsome... I'm impressed with how much local talant and suppliers Atlanta has!

ATL have alot of fish stores that do/specialize in saltwater. Check the sponsors; I personally think all of them are great. Plus, they give you discounts when you join the club. Marine fish will give 20% on dry goods and 30% on livestocks. But I think they know we're going to use it so they raise their prices a bit to make sure the price after discount = actual market price. ;)

Atlanta is pretty good, but we aren't California... that place has crazy good shops mainly because the tropical oversea shipments are easier to load up.

That is going to be pretty heavy and may take special handling. Stevhan would be able to say if he is equiped to hande it and if not I think I would check with a moving company and make sure they are insured or bonded. You can't afford to have someone drop a corner.

I could do it. We delivered a 34"x36"x48" tank the other day. One thing though and I must make this clear Measure All Door Ways! We got to the site and started measuring which noone had thought of before building and ordering the tank. We ended up having to go in through the ground level, move furniture, down the stairs and then finally to its resting place in the refinished basement.
Please say this tank is acrylic, just from the sheer size of it its going to be heavy no matter whats its made from.

i just got done putting in my 300 gall glass tank 2 weeks ago... took 11 yes eleven guys to move the 750lb beast... it still wasnt enough when trying to actually sit it on its stand... i agree , measure all doorways, and have plenty of help on hand.. use your arc buddies and any friends and neighbors you can rustle up, you'll be surprised how many guys on your street will come and help you if you tell them what your doing. (they'll come along just to see what the he** your talking about)... jessezm also sets up tanks, he helped set up mine .. pm him
p.s my 300 acrylic took only me and jessie to remove...lol!! but 11 guys to put back the glass tank.

simon i got mine from glass cages because they're close (tennessee)..and they now have starphire. but BEWARNED - their customer service SUCKS!!!!

If it's glass i would hire a moving company.

I used bulldog movers for my 900 lb beast. It only cost like $250 and that was insured and everything! It's worth it not to worry about anything happening!

And Simon I got my 450 from aquarium obsessed absoultely awesome tank and service It's starphire but with shipping and all was ~$3,000

Nice thing about Stevhan's service though (as opposed to a mover) is that he'll also assist with set-up and supply everything needed, if you're moving an established system. He also mentioned a complimentary follow-up visit to make sure all was well.

We'd have taken advantage of his service had we been able to afford it. Moving an established tank was scary.

I'll volunteer to help you move it and set it up. I love doing plumbing for tanks. Pm me if you need another guy to help move it. I live near canton as well.

If I can work it into my busy schedule I'll help. I did a 2 person carry of a Perfecto 220 72 x 24 x 24 and a back-o-the-townhouse install of an All Glass 210. I had to stand the 210 up through the door way to make the entrance hall. Sundays are pretty much the only days I don't work... a lot.
