Who uses fans to cool tank temp?

I am contemplating using a temperature controller and fan over either my sump or tank surface area to help control m y temp. I am curious if this is going to make me have salt creep everywhere? I use fans to suck out the hot air in my canopy but am wanting to add some T5's and it will definitely add heat so I need to combat that with fans or don't go with additional T5's.

If you do use fans over the tank..... How much more would you guess that it increases the need for ATO. As of now I can safely go 7-8 days between fillups on my ATO

I use small fans (6") I pickup at walmart for under $7 blowing over my sump and they work great. last summer water temp stayed in the upper 70's to 80. Using 3 right now on my 150, have 2 blowing across each end of my 40 gallon sump and one aimed at my little giant closed loop pump since the pump creates so much heat. using this system of fans keeps my water temp between 77 and 79

I'm using led for lighting 65 g total and I use one 5" fan blowing on sump controlled by apex and usually keeps it within 1 degree 79 in the summer 78 in the winter. Ato usually about 7 gallons every 5 days in summer and 7 g per 7 days winter

I have one fairly large fan pointed to blow over my sump/pump. Prob 125ish total water volume. I lose About 2g a day

When I used MH over my 90g I also used a fan contraption I put together from PC fans (pictures). I also had fans (4) in the canopy... these assisted and successfully lowered water temp 3-5 degrees. Had them configured to pull heat off the water, not to blow onto the water. I got rid of the fans when I changed from MH to LEDs.

They did not cause any salt creep, and I don't remember them adding to the ATO requirements. (With LEDs I currently use about ten gallons each week.)

there are some computer fans out there that have temp based speed control which I used on my old 58g and worked well, but computer fans do not last long(usually a year maybe 2) in the salty environment of a tank.

Plus for the same price or less, you can use a home depot or walmart 10" fan that equals 4 of the computer fans.

I actually use a single 10" fan in my canopy and a $12 box fan on my sump both controlled by the AC3. Works like a charm and only $20 to replace both of them every year or two.

I ran fans in the tanks I kept before. It works, cheaper than a chiller, but evap went up noticeably.
